Law Enforcement Training Division

“Most cities and counties would assume that 'competence and integrity' is an anticipated and necessary part of any law enforcement investigation; but taking such things for granted is usually a mistake. Our training courses will provide the tools allowing investigators and their departments, cities, and counties, to ensure and guarantee the quality and creditability of every law enforcement investigation.”

Currently Available Training Opportunities

Becoming a Competent Investigator: We build on the experience and ability of the law enforcement officer moving from the uniform to investigations, teaching the basics which become their foundation for becoming a competent and successful criminal investigator.

Case Development and Management: In most every department today we see the “case load” continue to increase as the headcount decreases. In order for the Investigator to be successful and the agency to operate with efficiency and credibility, case management is essential. Our case development training keeps the work getting done in a timely and accountable manner, and trains investigators to define a standard process for creating new and managing active case files.

"Cold Case" Investigations: Cold Case Investigations are nothing new to major Police Departments across the country, searching for ways to show continuing accountability for unclosed major cases. Maintaining the integrity of an investigative unit, squad, or team today includes the accountability of managing cold cases with the ability to show their systematic review and an interest in solveability. This training focuses on generating new leads, interviewing old witnesses, and reevaluating or developing physical evidence. Class participants will present a cold case from their agency for class review, learning first hand the benefits of this method.

Interviewing Witnesses / Interrogating Suspects: Building on the “gut feeling”, trial and error, and things “picked up along the way” our training shows the investigator how to develop and implement a method and strategy to be used systematically in interviews that will lead to the truth or confession. Major case confessions should not be left to hit and miss techniques, so our goal is to arm investigators with a blueprint mapping out proven techniques, options, and paths that if followed will lead to the truth and confessions.

Developing and Implementing a Homicide / Violent Crime Investigation Unit: Our training shows investigators and departments how to develop and implement this Investigative Unit. Laying out the structure, we’ll cover everything from staff and investigator selection, to utilization of specialized evidence analysis; from introducing the unit to the community and media, to making the unit the single point of contact, avoiding duplication of investigative efforts leading to a closed case.

Developing and Executing On Guard Street Survival Workshops for Women and Children: Our training program instructs officers to sponsor and instruct 1 hour to all day training classes for civilians, teaching personal protection skills while developing positive public relations for your department. With the On Guard Woman’s Street Survival Workshop you will learn to teach women to identify threats, avoid abductions, and defend mentally and physically. In the On Guard Children’s Street Survival Workshop you’ll learn to teach children how to identify. Avoid, and protect themselves from threats. On Guard’s Female Acquaintance Rape Avoidance Workshop will train you to teach teens and women to identify, avoid or defend against a potential sexual predator or acquaintance rapist, an avoid being a victim.
